Memphis Riverboats has been giving sightseeing tours and dinner cruises on the mighty Mississippi since 1955. Private Charters are also available. Riverboats are the most popular form of gambling in Mississippi, and the only facility permitted to operate casino games. According to the law, the casinos do not have to be able to take sail so many venues are located over water but resemble a land-based casino. Gambling took many forms on riverboats. Gambling with one's life with the boilers aside, there were sharks around willing to fleece the unsuspecting rube. As cities passed ordinances against gaming houses in town, the cheats moved to the unregulated waters of the Mississippi aboard river steamers.

Authentic American Riverboat Cruises on the Mississippi River
Take a Paddlewheeler a few miles up and down the greatest river in the U.S.A., The “Mighty” Mississippi. This is a great way to see and learn a bit of Mississippi River history while visiting Memphis, Tennessee. The most popular cruise is the 90-minute sightseeing cruise, which takes visitors a step back into Tennessee history. Historical commentary gives a comprehensive and interesting narrative of past and presents Mississippi River life. Snacks and drinks are available onboard, as well are restrooms.
